It’s a family-run tourism project born from José and Marisa’s love of nature. They have dedicated more than half their lives to agriculture as a business and to collecting, studying, and conserving orchids and other plants as a hobby. This is all while maintaining a commitment to restoring native flora and preserving wildlife.

Visiting Finca Romelia is like stepping back into your grandparents’ house, a place to be pampered and, at the same time, lose yourself in a mountain range with an ecosystem that beckons exploration.

This journey begins in the hamlet of La Cabaña, just half an hour from Manizales (Caldas). There lies the land settled by Marisa Arango’s great-grandparents, who, along with her husband, José Londoño, has spent 40 years cultivating this 35-hectare slice of paradise.

They have dedicated themselves to orchid conservation and now boast 400 species totaling 6,000 plants. Their collection has been recognized by the Colombian Orchid Society and the American Orchid Society. This family treasure is now a must-see destination in the Coffee Region.

A guayacán tree with yellow flowers, a sapote tree, and a mango tree frame the entrance. The service is personalized. At the first house, after a refreshing glass of orange juice or coffee prepared by the hostess, guests are given a check-up to ensure they are comfortable and ready to begin the tour.

“We provide trekking poles, rubber boots, and rain gear, in case it’s raining,” says Mónica Londoño, the communications specialist in charge of promoting Finca Romelia.
